You’ve got the essence dear, if I could have a second skin I’d probably dress up in you.

They don’t make them like they used to, that is for sure. I can’t even remember how long ago I got a hold of this song but I was living on the West Coast so it was pre-2005 and I just rediscovered it while looking through my external hard drive of music. Check it out and lets hope one day we can get back here. Click below to listen to the song, or if you are feeling adventurous you could check out this YouTube video.

The Lovers that Went Wrong

Yet another song from this past weekend that really set the moment perfectly is this gorgeous track from the English band, Daughter. This song is titled Youth, and it is perfect. Enjoy.

And if you’re still breathing, you’re the lucky ones.
‘Cause most of us are heaving through corrupted lungs.
Setting fire to our insides for fun
Collecting names of the lovers that went wrong
The lovers that went wrong.

Best Made Addition

As anyone who has read my blog between 2008 and now should know, I am in love with everything that comes out of Best Made Company, whether it be a gorgeous axe or a handsome patch. The first Best Made axe that came into my possesion was the “Black Donald,” a felling axe in my signature colors, black and red. The axe was purchased for me by a client and friend in exchange for a shoot of his living space for Design*Sponge and it quickly became one of my favorite pieces of art in my own home. Below you can see a photo direct from the Best Made site of my precious axe!

Now, onto the real point of this post. In honor of arguably the greatest children’s author in history, Maurice Sendak, Best Made has created a special limited edition axe to commemorate his passing. Appropriately named, Max’s Axe, after the main character in Where the Wild Things Are, which is Sendak’s most popular story one that the vast majority of my generation grew up with. Being that my son is named Max I felt if I were to add one piece to my collection that this should be the one. So once again I will put out the offer to any interested parties, I am interested in trading photo and/or video work in exchange for the beautiful axe you see below.

I have posted here and there about my car but now seems like a good time for an update so here goes. I have made a few changes over the last couple of months that have drastically changed the look of my car, so instead of boring everyone with that I will just post photos. Enjoy!

It has been a pretty long while since I saw an illustration that I couldn’t look away from and the cause of my current obsession is this incredible series from Todd Bratrud. New Slang

I have been listening to The Shins for a very long time, but after a very trying weekend my love for them has been reignited. The early part of the weekend was difficult to say the least and its very hard to explain exactly how I was feeling, but things started to turn around early Sunday when I got to spend some quality time with two of my very best friends, who always have a way of brightening things up. We spent the day filming the final scenes of the music video that we have been working on for several weeks now, a video for the group Dubvision from Holland in which I was cast to play the main character. We filmed for nearly the entire day and wrapped shooting very late last night, with the final moment of the night taking place in the O Street Artists Lofts, the breeze coming in through open windows from a cool DC night, with New Slang by The Shins playing while we all just listened in silence. Sometimes the worst situations can turn into the most memorable times.

I’m looking in on the good life I might be doomed never to find.
Without a trust or flaming fields am I too dumb to refine?

Today I have hit the road again with 8112 Studios for the final day of filming for the Dubvision music video. We find ourselves our in northern Virginia for the opening scene, wandering around a “farm” looking for the perfect shot.

If you have been reading my blog for any amount of time you should already know that I am what some may say to be “heavily tattooed.” I suppose that would mean something different to different people, but to me it means more than just your average tattooed fella. I have had both of my arms and my chest for many years now, in addition to one of my legs and something smaller on my back, but over the last couple of months I have gotten back to work on my ultimate tattoo goal, having a full body suit. Either way, lets get on to the photos, because that’s why people are really here!

Nixon S.A.M. watch

Great, just what I needed in my life, another watch. Seeing as it has been a while since I have posted about a watch, much less actually purchased one, it seemed like a good time to break the silence. The wonderfully New England yuppie pieces you see below are a collaboration between Nixon and Barneys New York, the S.A.M. Available in the two colorways you see below and only online or your local Barneys Store they are retailing for $250, a small price to pay for this handsome piece. Pick yours up and complete that ensemble by clicking, HERE.
